Snow Much Thanks - Painting with Distress Ink

Hello! I have had so much fun over the last several days! I've been visiting with friends, and family, eating good food, and opening presents. It's been really great, but super crazy busy so I'm glad that now I have some time to sit down and get back to crafting! The card I'm sharing today is a thank you card I made for my wonderful parents using the Snow Much stamp set from Simon Says Stamp's January card kit.

Holiday Icons card trio

Hello! I have a trio of cards to share today! They all feature the Naughty and Nice Elves stamp set that I've had since July from the Christmas in July event with Simon Says Stamp. See the first card I made with them HERE.  Since then, Simon has released a coordinating dies set. WOOHOO! I love coordinating dies! They make it super fast and easy to assemble cards like the ones I made with these adorable elves!

Copic on Kraft - Pumpkin Spice Lattes and Yoga Pants!

Hello again! Today I have a quick card share for you. I decided to do things a little differently with my Copic markers - by changing up the paper I usually use. For today's card I'm using the Pumpkin Spice stamp by Art Impressions and Simon Says Stamp. Art Impressions has a collection of Girlfriends stamps that feature quirky characters and sentiments, which is what I totally love about them. This stamp is no exception!

I Love You Even More Than Pumpkin Spice Lattes!

Hello! How is your week going? Today I'm sharing a card I made using the More Than Smores stamp set by Heffy Doodle for Simon Says Stamp. This was an exclusive, limited edition stamp set for the STAMPtember event, so unfortunately this set isn't available anymore, but it's just too cute for me not to share.

I actually have a confession to make.... I've never tried a Pumpkin Spice Latte! GASP! I know! But I'm just not a pumpkin person. I do love apple cider though!

Here's a video tutorial of how I created this card or watch on my YouTube channel by clicking HERE:

Also, I'm participating the The Daily Marker's 30 Day Coloring Challenge. Every day in November I'll be coloring and posting my projects on my Instagram page. Follow my progress at @lindsayddesigns.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

4 Lovely Autumn Wreath Cards using Gina K. Designs Autumn Wreath Builder

Hello! Hope you're having a great day! The cards I'm sharing today I made using the Gina K. Designs Autumn Wreath Builder clear stamp set and stencil. I did a post awhile back using this stamp set (visit THIS blog post), but now that it's actually autumn, I feel more in the mood to make autumn-y things!  Here are four cards I created using slightly different designs on each. Wouldn't they make the cutest card set?

Hello all! I'm super excited to share this coffee card I made using the Fall Wishes digital stamp set by Graciellie Design. I previously created a coffee card with her Hello Sunshine digital stamp set (visit THIS blog post to see it). I decided that this time around I would bust out my watercolors!

Which witch is which? Witch Legs card featuring stamp and die set by Stamplistic

Hi! I'm back with another Halloween card blog post, and these may be my favorite Halloween cards yet! The cards I created feature the W.E. Legs (Witch Elf Legs!) stamp and 7-piece layering die set by Stamplistic. These cards were inspired by the wonderfully talented and always hilarious Ken Hess of Ken's Kreations. You can check out his YouTube video here.

Monogrammed Pumpkins! A Silhouette Cameo 3 vinyl project

I purchased my Silhouette Cameo 3 over a year ago and had yet to do any vinyl cutting projects. I've used my Cameo 3 plenty of times on paper projects (check out one of my latest blog posts to see a card I recently created). But this time I dared myself to step out of my comfort zone and create a beautiful fall home decor project!

Happy Haunting mixed media project featuring Spooky Halloween by Andrea Gomoll

A couple years ago, I was introduced to the beautiful artwork of Andrea Gomoll. I immediately fell in love with her style, especially the cute girls that she sketches. I just think they are so adorable! Many of these girls are available as clear stamps, and I just love them! You know I love coloring and to be able to bring colorful life into one of Andrea's sketches makes me so happy! Andrea also does fabulous mixed media artwork, and she inspired me to do the same with the Spooky Halloween girl clear stamp set.

Z-fold Halloween candy card featuring Waffle Flower Crafts

Hey everybody! I'm back with another Halloween card - a really sweet Halloween card! It features the Sweet Tooth stamp and die set by Waffle Flower Crafts. This set was a limited edition set for Simon Say Stamp's STAMPtember event. I used a Z-fold card design that opens up to 12 inches wide to display a cute Halloween scene. Take a look in the video below:

Let's get SPOOKY - Take a look at Banner!

Remember that episode of Arrested Development where the Bluth family makes Michael a ridiculously childish banner? Now, every time I come across the word "banner" I can't help but remember the "Family Love Michael" banner they made and Gob yelling, "Take a look at Banner Michael!" (And yes, I did re-watch that episode while writing this post!) I mention all this hilarity because I made a banner of my own - for Halloween!

Frightful Fun 4 Card Set

You know, there's nothing like a good set of coordinating cards, I always say. Well, I don't think I always say that, but I still think it's true! Because once I had my hands on the Simon Says Stamp Frightful Fun stamp set, I knew it was the perfect stamp set to make a coordinating set of cards! The images feature the most adorable critters and creatures and "punny" Halloween sentiments. Here is a set of 4 super, super, super cute, Copic-colored Halloween cards. I hope you like them!

BOO to you! An Action Wobbles card

When it comes to Halloween, I am definitely a "cute Halloween" person, not a "scary Halloween" person, and the Halloween cards I make are no exception. This one features the cutest little ghost (who has a not-so-scary secret!) Keep reading to the end to find out what it is!

Digital stamps and the Silhouette Cameo 3 - A coffee card from Graciellie Design

So I've been having a lot of fun playing around with digital stamps. (Check out this blog post or this one to see previous projects I've made with digital stamps!) I decided to step things up a notch by using a digital stamp with the Print & Cut feature on my Silhouette Cameo 3. I'm so glad I tried this out! It was fast and easy and gave me the perfect cut to make this super, yummy, delicious coffee card!

More colored pencil fun with digital stamps from Power Poppy!

I spent some time over the last several days practicing my coloring skills using this absolutely stunning digital stamp from Power Poppy! This is the Graceful Still Life Digital Stamp Set from Power Poppy by Marcella Hawley. What I am loving so much about digital stamps is my ability to resize the image to make any size card I want! I decided to make a 5 x 7 inch card, which is larger than the A2 sized card I usually create that measures 4.25 x 5.5 inches. I find that it's actually easier for me to practice blending when the image is a little larger.

Super cute Lawn Fawn character card - Part 2

Once I got going with my last Lawn Fawn character card, I just had to make another one. These Lawn Fawn characters are just so cute and perfect for creating a little scene. Since this was a Christmas-themed card, I put these little cuties in the snow!

Super cute Lawn Fawn character card - Part 1

One of the things that I'm attracted to the most when making cards is using cute little characters and Lawn Fawn, one of my favorite stamp companies, has some of the cutest little characters!

Happy Birthday cards with Glimmer Paste

I had been wanting to make this card for some time now, and I’m happy I actually sat down and made it - I made two actually! I used the Folk Dance stencil from Simon Says Stamp with Nuvo Glimmer Paste. I’ve used Glimmer Paste before, but only used one color at a time. This time, I decided to try blending a couple colors to get a really beautiful, colorful, sparkling effect.

Happy Fautumn!

Happy Fautumn! That's a word I made up for fall and autumn, because shouldn't both of them be happy?! 😊

For today's card, I was totally inspired by the color combo on the Your Next Stamp Sketch and Color Challenge #96. Plus, I just received the Gina K. Designs Autumn Wreath Builder stamp set, and I was chomping at the bit (did I really just use that idiom?!) to make a fall/autumn wreath!

I really like candy corn!

Hey all! I'm back with another card - a shaker card! I love making interactive cards like these, and Lawn Fawn has made it super easy with the Shaker Add-on die to the How You Bean? stamp set. Since Halloween is coming, I decided to use the Candy Corn Add-on stamps and dies.

Spread Love, Kindness, and Good Vibes!

Today’s card is an inspiration from the very talented Suzy Plantamura and her More Good Vibes stamp set at Simon Says Stamp. These images were previously released as Watercolor Prints (which I also have!), but now with the stamp set, I have so many more creative possibilities. Suzy's work is so beautiful, and she really inspires me to take my cards back-to-basics with just stamping and coloring.

A big, bold (but super easy) background!

I have to admit that before creating this card, I had never colored a mandala before (GASP! I know!). I'm so glad that I decided to give it a try because this Center Cut Burst background stamp from Simon Says Stamp is such a beautiful stamp and really fun to color. (And with this stamp you can even remove the middle part to make even more designs!)

Back to School!

It's back to school time! Well, not for me. I can proudly say that last December I graduated from Sac State with a Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences, Nutrition and Food concentration (a mouthful, yes, but I don’t mind because I am so freakin’ proud of myself! Toot toot! That was just me tootin' my own horn for a quick sec! 😋).

Kindness is the Way!

I love watching YouTube! I especially enjoy watching coloring videos, and I found that many of these videos use images from Power Poppy. I was so intrigued by how beautiful these images were, I just had to see more for myself. And, oh my, was I excited about what I discovered?! Power Poppy's online store has so many beautiful stamps, even a huge array of digi stamps. Digi stamps are digital images you can download, print at home, and then begin coloring right away!

But even more exciting for me was that I stumbled upon not only a FREE digital stamp from Power Poppy, but also a FREE coloring class from Kit and Clowder to go along with it. I immediately signed up for the class, and I was completely blown away. The video tutorial was so incredibly informative, and really created a safe place for me to develop my coloring. There's also a step-by-step guide that includes a color blend chart of different kinds and brands of coloring media.

Distress It: Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Entry #2 plus a BONUS card!

Here's another card I made for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Distress It. I used the Mandy's Flowers Stamp Set from Simon Says Stamp and the coordinating dies!

I wanted to create a "shabby chic" type of card, so I chose soft pinks for the dominant color. First, I laid down a light wash of watercolor using Prima Marketing Watercolor Confections: Pastel Dreams watercolor on Blick watercolor paper. I used a #12 round brush from the Silver Brush Company and lots of water to achieve a very soft background.

Distress It: Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Entry #1

With some projects, I have the idea all mapped out. I'll even draw a quick sketch and jot down a few notes about what I want to create and how I want to create it. This time, however, I just sat down at my craft desk and let the creative juices flow!

It all started with the CZ Design DUDE wafer die. I totally love this die! They only thing I knew going into this crafting sesh was that I just had to use this die. I began by die cutting the word from black card stock and cutting the shadow from lime green card stock from the Lawn Fawn Really Rainbow 6x6 Petite Paper Pack. The die cutting machine I use is the Tim Holtz Vagabond 2 and I absolutely love it!

Christmas in July!

Okay, so I am totally getting into this Christmas in July theme going on at Simon Says Stamp. I have so many Christmas card ideas that I almost forget it's the middle of summer and super hot outside!

This card is another entry for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Christmas in July. This is also another entry for the watercolor Work it Wednesday Challenge.

I am really into repeated image background stamping and coloring right now, so I knew that was the look I wanted to create for this card. I first laid down a very light watercolor wash of number 49 Gold watercolor from the Prima Shimmering Lights watercolor pan set. The shimmer is very, very subtle, but still beautiful.  After it dried, I laid down the images and sentiment stamps from the Simon Says Stamp Christmas Essentials stamp set. Next, I used my Mini Misti stamping tool to repeatedly stamp the images on watercolor paper. I laid down the sentiment stamp only to arrange the image stamps around it because before I stamped, I removed the sentiment stamp so I only stamped the images. This way, I ensured I left a space big enough for me to stamp the sentiment later.

Next, I watercolor painted the images. Instead of using watercolors though, I decided to paint with Distress Ink. I used the colors Festive Berries, Pine Needles, Evergreen Bough, Fired Brick, and Walnut Stain. After the images dried, I added some white, acrylic paint splatters. Finally, I heat embossed the sentiment using Ranger Black Sparkle embossing powder.

I am really happy how this card turned out. I am still practicing my watercolor skills, and will continue to do so because with each card I feel more confident in my watercolor painting ability! Thanks for stopping by!

Here's any entry in to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes. They are showcasing Art Impression Products. This is also an entry for July's Simon Says Stamp Work It Wednesday Challenge. The theme is watercolors!

I have to be completely honest about this card. I really struggled with it. I love the look of watercolor painting. I am very new to it, and having trouble finding my knack for it. So, for this card, I decided to really push myself and not give up on watercoloring. I know that with more and more practice I will get better. In fact, I can't get better unless I practice. So although I am not 100% happy with my watercoloring, this card was also a practice in committing to finish a card that I felt unsure about the outcome because of my inexperience with watercolor. In the end, it is a cute card and anyone I know would be happy to receive it.

I used a variety of Prima watercolors, and then after it was dry I added a few details with some gel pens. I orginially planned on this being a one-layer card, but the sentiment I stamped above the image was fuzzy, so I stamped it again, this time on a piece of Neenah Desert Storm cardstock and popped it up with foam tape.  Honestly, I am still unsure about this card, but I will keep it, and I will keep practicing watercoloring!

Friday, July 27, 2018

This is my second entry in to the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes. They are showcasing Art Impressions Products. I am having so much fun entering in to these challenges. First, it's exciting for the chance to win some cool stuff. Second, it really does challenge my creativity. Third (and maybe most important to me), I am sharing my work. I love cardmaking and I think I love sharing my cards just as much. I find myself being less critical about my work because giving someone a handmade card tells that person you really care about them, so they are not going care if you colored a millimeter outside the lines, or made some other "mistake." They are just going to love it and feel good because they know someone cares about them. So this makes me feel less critical about what I create (which feels really good!), so I feel more free to try new things and be okay with how it turns out (no matter how it turns out). Plus, there's always a backside of the paper so if I do really screw up then I can just flip it over and start again!

For this project I used Copic markers. I am so freakin' proud of this card. I purposely left the card design very simple because the focal point of this card is really the image. I just added a touch of Wink of Stella, cut out with a stitched die, and mounted the piece on some fun foam. Art Impressions has such cute stamp sets with some really funny sentiments. I didn't make this card with anyone in mind, but I know I'll find the right person to give it to. It's so cute! I love it!

Thursday, July 26, 2018

This post is for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge: Anything Goes. They are showcasing Art Impressions Products. I had been eyeing several stamp sets, so I thought that this would be a perfect time to pick up a few sets.

For this project, I used the large image from the Road Trip stamp set and a sentiment from the Got Style stamp set. I stamped the image on Neenah Desert Storm cardstock in Basic Black archival ink by Stampin' Up!. I have been really in to colored pencils lately, especially colored pencils on kraft paper. It actually didn't take me very long to color. With each card I make, I get better with that particular medium. I really like colored pencils, they are a slow medium, but I think what draws me to them is the high amount of control I have with them because it takes awhile to build the layers of color.

I used Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils, then when I was completely finished, I outlined everything with a black 0.1 Copic pen. Outlining really makes a huge difference! It's such a small, extra thing that really adds so much to the project. Lastly, I spritzed a very, very light layer of Perfect Pearls mixed with water and die cut with the largest Simon Says Stamp Wonky Rectangles Die. I made this card for a friend of mine, and I can't wait to give it to her. It's so cute!

This post is my second entry in to the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge.

For this card, I used the Watercolor Winter stamp set from Stampin Up (a really old stamp set) with the Wreath Builder stencil from Gina K. The sentiment is from the Naughty and Nice Elves by Simon Says Stamp. I heat embossed the sentiment with Black Sparkle embossing powder from Ranger. Finally, I added red sequins with a drop of clear Nuvo drops over top. The white paper is Neenah Solar White cardstock and the card is made from Neenah Desert Storm cardstock. I really like this little card! Thanks! Bye!

Tuesday, July 24, 2018

This is my first blog post, and it's my first time entering a project into a Monday Challenge at Simon Says Stamp blog. This is the Krafty Christmas challenge.

I used the Naughty & Nice Elves stamp set from Simon Says Stamp. I colored the image with Copic Markers and fussy cut them out. I popped them up with foam tape. For the background, I did a very light watercolor wash using Prima watercolors. Then I added some black splatter with acrylic paint. The small sentiment is from an old october afternoon stamp set I bought many, many years ago. I also added some Wink of Stella to the elves' cheeks. I had a lot of fun making this card, and I know I'll definitely be entering in more challenges with Simon Says Stamp.
