Painting Pumpkins - Faux Gilded Edge Card

Happy happy Friday! I have another card to share today! This one is a product of the 30 Day Coloring Challenge I'm participating in over at The Daily Marker. Every day, for 30 days, I'm setting aside time to color (yay!), and I'm posting my projects on my Instagram page @lindsayddesigns. I colored this image on day 6!

This image is from the Painting Pumkpins Digital Stamp Set by Power Poppy. Isn't it just goregous?! This fall season I have been in love with pumpkins! Once I saw this set, I just had to color it!

I used Prismacolor Colored pencils to color this image. They are available as a complete 150 pencil set, but you can also get them in smaller sets of 24, 36, 48, 72, and 132. I've been really happy learning with these pencils, so I would definitely reccommend checking them out!

I really didn't want to over-embellish this card (even though I love embellishing!). But with this card, I wanted my colored image to really take center stage. I decided to give it a faux gilded edge, and it was the perfect touch! Plus, it's super easy to do.

To achieve this look, all you do is lightly tap the edges of the card over an embossing ink pad. I use Versamark ink. Then, dab those edges into embossing powder. I used Ranger Super Fine Embossing Powder in Gold. Then, just heat the powder with a heat tool until it melts! And because I just can't resist, I added a few gold sequins, glued to the card with Ranger Multi-Medium Matte, and a drop of Morning Dew Nuvo Drops over the top of each one.

What I am recognizing during this 30 Day Coloring Challenge is that I must ignore the overly critical voice in my head saying that I've made a mistake so I should start over. By resisting that urge and completing the coloring, I feel more accomplished and proud of the final project because I stuck with it. And once the coloring is complete and I see everything together, usually what I realize is that the "mistake" wasn't really a mistake after all, and I'm very satisfied with the result.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Come visit me on Instagram for more coloring fun! And have a great weekend!
