Happy Haunting mixed media project featuring Spooky Halloween by Andrea Gomoll

A couple years ago, I was introduced to the beautiful artwork of Andrea Gomoll. I immediately fell in love with her style, especially the cute girls that she sketches. I just think they are so adorable! Many of these girls are available as clear stamps, and I just love them! You know I love coloring and to be able to bring colorful life into one of Andrea's sketches makes me so happy! Andrea also does fabulous mixed media artwork, and she inspired me to do the same with the Spooky Halloween girl clear stamp set.

The cool thing about mixed media is that you can pretty much do whatever you want! It's so fun to just let loose, be creative, and try new things! There are several layers to this card - I just kept adding and adding to it until I felt like it was finished. And I'm really happy with how it turned out!

For the background of this piece, I used journal tape and Confettissue by Jane Davenport (another awesome mixed media artist). I adhered them with Ranger Multi Medium Matte adhesive. I then used a Caran d'Ache Neocolor II Artists' Crayon to color the background. These crayons are so cool! They are like watercolor in a crayon - it's amazing!

I also added some Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink in Fossilized Amber with an ink blending tool and the Radiating Rays stencil from My Favorite Things. Next, I used Gold Crackle Texture Paste from Art Extravagance by Prima Marketing. This stuff if so cool because as it dries it creates an aged crackle effect in the paint. I applied it to my project with a palette knife and a Tim Holtz mini stencil.

I also had to add black paint splatters (maybe went a bit overboard, but I still like it!) with a black uni-posca paint marker pen. And I also put on some Tangerine jewels by Little Things from Lucy's Cards.

To color the girl, I used Zig Clean Color Real Brush Watercolor Pens. In fact, I actually stamped the girl and colored her first! I took my makers and this image on a family vacation and colored her while on the beach! Then, when I returned home, I did the background.
