No Tricks Just Treats - "floating" foiled clear toner sheet card

Happy Monday! (oxymoron?) Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I'm back today with another Halloween card. This card is relatively simple in its design, but still looks delightfully detailed!

Foiled cards have been on my brain lately so I've been jumping at any chance I have to use it any time I can! Today I'm using the ThermoWeb Cobwebs & Cauldrons Deco Foil Clear Designer Toner Sheets. I used Purple Deco Foil Transfer Sheets for this card.

I wanted to create the illusion that the foiled images were "floating" above the background, so I used a thin strip of double-sided dimensional foam adhesive to apply the clear toner sheet to the striped background. I grabbed this patterned paper from the My Favorite Things Black and White Basics 6x6 Paper Pack.

The "floating" result is subtle and not captured as well in pictures as it turned out in real life. A framed die cut from the My Favorite Things Stitched Rectangle Scallop Edge Frame die set layered on top of the clear toner sheet, masks the dimensional adhesive and adds to the "floating" effect.

The sentiment comes from the Sweet Tooth stamp set by Waffle Flower Crafts. This set was a limited edition set for Simon Say Stamp's STAMPtember event (see THIS blog post to see what I created with the entire set). I heat embossed the sentiment with Hero Arts White Embossing Powder.

I layered the stitched circle on a die cut scalloped circle with dimensional foam adhesive from Scrapbook Adhesives. Before adhering this piece to the card, I looped some black and white baker's twine round 'n' round the back for more added detail.

I really like how this card turned out. To be completely honest with you, this design took me days to flesh out. I had this basic design on my mind for quite some time, but just couldn't get it to come together the way I was imagining. I almost gave up on it! But I gave myself some time, worked on other projects, and when I came back to this one - it all fell together nicely! Moral of the story: Don't give up!

Like I mentioned last week, tomorrow I will be showcasing another foiled card, but I'll also share a really important tip for how to get the most out of your foil. Don't miss it! This card is also an entry into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Halloween/Spooky

Take care my friends!
