Let's get SPOOKY - Take a look at Banner!

Remember that episode of Arrested Development where the Bluth family makes Michael a ridiculously childish banner? Now, every time I come across the word "banner" I can't help but remember the "Family Love Michael" banner they made and Gob yelling, "Take a look at Banner Michael!" (And yes, I did re-watch that episode while writing this post!) I mention all this hilarity because I made a banner of my own - for Halloween!

It's been quite some time since I made my own banner - probably at least a couple years. As I was going through my Halloween stash, I found an old Halloween paper pack by Stampin' Up that I've been keeping around, and it was just screaming out to me to be made into a banner!

The banner design, however, didn't come to me right away. This isn't unusual for me and my projects. I usually start with a loose outline of a design and go from there. I started this banner with one of the "loosest" outlines I've had for a project, but it all unfolded nicely as I started collecting different banner elements. This really got the creative juices flowin'!

But one thing was for sure, I knew I wanted to include rosettes. I love the look of rosettes on banners! I think it really makes the letters pop. The letters, by the way, I cut with my Silhouette Cameo 3.

The idea for stitching actually came to me very late into the project. I'm so glad I added this! I was a little apprehensive at first about how my sewing machine would hold up through the layers, but it worked great! I think the zig-zag stitch was the perfect touch!

And of course I had to add something shiny to my banner! Gold foil to the rescue!

This banner project reminded me how much I love making banners! They are so cute, and I love how they bring such life to wherever they hang. Banners make me so happy!

This project is also an entry into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Anything But a Card
