Be Happy... It Drives People Crazy! A Love Bug card for High Hopes Rubber Stamps

Hey everybody! Today, I'm sharing a card that is serving up a whole lotta love - Love Bugs that is! This card features the Love Bug stamp by High Hopes Rubber Stamps paired with the Crazy sentiment stamp for a card that (hopefully) reminds you to celebrate your own kind of "happy!"

To create this card, I stamped the Love Bug repeatedly in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink because I knew I would be using my Copic markers to color these images, and Memento is a Copic-safe ink (it won't bleed or smear when I color with the markers). I used my Tim Holtz Stamping Platform to help me with the stamping, but it's totally possible to freehand stamp this one with an acrylic block.

Here are the Copic colors I used to color this card:

Car (main body): R24, R27, R29, & N4 (I used N4 in the darkest shadowed areas)
Windows and headlights: B14, BG70, & N0 (Really just did a mixture of all these colors, leaving just a strip of white); N4 around the headlights
Tires: N8 on the bottom and Black 100 to add little flicks for the treads, N4 on the sides and N6 flicks for a little texture, N2 in the wheel center, & N0 on the hubcaps
Flower: B45 & Y13
Car's shadow: mainly N0 but a little bit of N2, & 0 the Colorless Blender
Bumper: N2 & N0

The sentiment I stamped in black ink, and then went over it with Hero Arts clear embossing powder. For small sentiments, I like stamping in black ink, and then applying clear embossing powder over it rather than stamping with Versamark embossing ink, and then applying black embossing powder.

Why do I do it this way? I like the sentiment to be able to be read clearly, and I think stamping in black ink gives me the most crisp and clean lines. Sometimes with embossing ink and black embossing powder, the powder may melt together and distort the words. It usually isn't distorted very badly, but I just like the sentiment to be as clear as possible.

So why put embossing powder on the sentiment at all? Embossing powder gives the sentiment shine and "raises" it from the card. It just adds a little somethin', somethin'!

For the last touches of decoration, I die cut the card panel with the Wonky Rectangles die by Simon Says Stamp to add the faux stitching around the outside edge and added a few Red Berry Nuvo drops. I then adhered the card panel onto a red card stock scalloped rectangle cut with the Honey Bee Stamps Scallop A2 die.

And that's the finished card folks! Hope you like what I've created! I think that I will turn this card into a birthday card or a "just because" card. I think this might be a good card for a male family member or friend. Well, whomever I give it too, I hope it makes them happy! And I hope this card has inspired you to check out the stamps at High Hopes Rubber Stamps. Thanks for stopping by! Have a good weekend!
