Spring Greetings featuring Tiddly Inks

Hi friends, and happy first day of spring! Today, I have a quick card share for ya using the Ducky Dance digi stamp by Tiddly Inks. This is the adorable Wryn, dancin' in the rain with her ducky friends! (I wish I looked as cute while dancin' in the rain! 😜😜😜)

I colored her with my Prismacolor colored pencils. I have finally restocked my stash of Canson Mi-Teintes paper - which is my favorite for colored pencils - so I'm using that for this card. This was actually my first time doing a rainy scene. I had an easy enough time with the background - I filled it all in with Periwinkle and White (except the ground which is Slate Gray for the shadow and 30% Cool Grey). I also took a paper stump dipped in Gamsol (an odorless mineral spirit) to further blend the background, but I kept all my strokes diagonal to look like rain, slanted by the wind.

I really only became nervous when it came to adding the white rain drops (I didn't want to cover her up!). I used a white Gelly Roll pen and my white uni-Posca paint pen to add random lines of rains. I chose 2 different pens because each gives a slightly different white line, so I thought it helped make it look more natural. I found that it was actually more natural looking and less structured when I didn't think so much about the placement of each drop - I worked a little more quickly and I think it helped a lot to make the rain drops look more random. I wasn't sure about whether or not to cover her face with any drops, but in the end I chose not to, and I'm happy with that decision. I think I took the drops in close enough so that it fits pretty well with the rest of the scene.

The sentiment comes from the Easter Greetings stamp set by Simon Says Stamp. I stamped it in Versamark ink, and then heat set it with Ranger Super Fine Detail Black Embossing Powder. The card base is Neenah Desert Storm card stock.

Thank you so much for popping by today! Today's card will be going out to my Auntie who lives in Idaho. I haven't talked to her in awhile, so I'll send her this card with a little message inside that says that I love her, and I'm thinking about her. I love sending out cards "just because!" Hope you have a fantastic day!
