Feeling Souper! Another card featuring the new Get Well Soon release by High Hopes Rubber Stamps

Hello friends and fellow High Hope Rubber stampers! I've been having so much fun playing with the stamps from the newest Get Well Soon release. Check out the last two cards I made by clicking either HERE or HERE. Today's card completes my set of three coordinating cards, this one featuring the Chicken Soup and Feel Souper stamps from High Hopes.

I really didn't start out with the intention on making a card set. Like I had mentioned in my last video, I usually never make the same card twice (I get bored too quickly!), but coordinating card sets have opened up a whole new world for me! I get the chance to create multiple cards, but get to do something a little different each time. And I love that!

The red polka dot background I actually had just laying around in my stash. I had stamped and die cut this background for a different project, but ended up not using it for that one, so I just tucked it away. And it just so happened that it was perfect for this card!

I incorporated some elements from the two previous cards (like the striped patterned paper, lacey, scalloped circle, and ribbon). This helps tie the three cards together. And I'm just so happy with how they turned out!

Thank you so much for stopping by! There are many more adorable stamps in the Get Well Soon release that I haven't had a chance yet to play with. Be sure to check them out and pick up your favorites. Enjoy the rest of your day, and I'll see you soon!

You Can Steer Yourself in Any Direction You Choose for High Hopes Rubber Stamps

Hello! Hope you're doing well. Happy Saturday! I'm sharing another scene card, but today what I'm sharing uses something I've never tried before - a watercolor and colored pencil scene. I combined the Mountains, Forest, Ron's Royce, and Any Direction You Choose stamps to create this card. I always feel a little nervous when I try something new, but I just keep reminding myself that with anything everyone starts at the beginning, and as for creating watercolor scene cards, today's card is just the beginning for me!

So last week I shared a masking technique that I used to create a scene card, and that's what I did with this one as well. But I'm also going to share another technique you can use to achieve the same look. First, I stamped Ron's Royce and masked the front part of the card. Then, I stamped the Forest. Lastly, I stamped the Mountains. How do know what to stamp first to get the look you're going for? Always stamp "front to back," meaning that whatever you stamp first will appear in front of whatever you stamp next. So, because I wanted Ron's Royce to be in the foreground, I stamped it first and masked it off so I could then stamp the Forest.

Now as you can see, the Forest is in front of the Mountains, but I actually didn't do any masking for the trees. I didn't because it has some pretty small nooks and crannies, so I didn't want to take the time to cut out a mask. So, when I inked up the Mountains stamp I actually just took my finger and wiped away the ink off the stamp on the part that would overlap the trees. This "wiping" trick worked out so well for this card because I was stamping in a very light color of ink, and because the Mountains stamp isn't a very intricate shape, so I would be able to recreate mountains behind the trees very easily without any guidelines from the stamp. If I were stamping in a dark color of ink and overlapping two very intricate stamps, then I might consider using the masking technique over the "wiping" trick. The former will definitely give you more control over the finished design, but the latter is quick and easy, doesn't require any special products, and in a lot of cases works just as well.

After the stamping, I took out my Prima Watercolor Confections Decadant Pies watercolor palette and #2 round watercolor brush. I'm still very new to watercolors, but what I've discovered so far is that you just don't have as much control over the color as you do with markers or pencils. But that's kinda the desired effect I wanted with this card - more of a looser interpretation of the nature scene in this scene. Watercolor lends itself very well to a nature scene. Nature is imperfect so watercolor's looseness is a good match for creating more of the feeling of nature, rather than photo-realism.

However, once I was done with the watercolors, I just had this itching feeling that this project needed a little more definition than what I could achieve with my current watercolor skills. So, I completely dried the project with my heat tool, and then went over specific areas to make them pop out more and define the lines a little more. I also took a white gel pen and added some snow details to the mountains in the back. I really contemplated adding in some flowers into the meadow in this scene, but I feel this card emotes a more masculine feeling so I decided to leave them out of this project.

I stamped the Any Direction You Choose sentiment in black archival ink and added a faux stitched edge with a metal die and my die cutting machine. Then, I mounted the whole thing onto a kraft card stock card base with strong adhesive tape.

And that's all she wrote! I'm really proud of myself for taking a chance on something new, so I'm really proud of this project. I definitely will be pulling out my watercolors more often! Are you asking yourself, "But Lindsay, on what occasion would you give out this card?" Well - thanks for asking - I turn cards like this (ones with quotes or other inspirational messages) into a card for just about any occasion! So for this card, I plan on giving it out for a birthday, and I'll just write "Happy Birthday" on the inside. And I'm good with that!

Well, thank you all so very much for stopping by the blog today. And remember the "Get Well Soon" release is now available in the High Hopes shop! The adorable critters in this release are sure to put a smile on anyone's face! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, and I'll see you next week!!!

Thought You Could Use a Little Pick Up

Hello everyone! Wow, am I super excited to share this card?! I worked so hard on it, and I think it turned out great! I combined the Old Pick Up Truck and Forest Background stamp by High Hopes Rubber Stamps to create a "no white space" card that will hopefully cheer up someone who may be feeling a little blue.

I first stamped the Old Pick Up Truck stamp. I stamped it in Antique Linen Distress Ink which is a very light color of ink because I wanted this to be a "no-line" coloring image. I colored it in with my Prismacolor Colored pencils, so I used Canson Mi-Teintes paper because it has a really nice textured, yet smooth, finish so you can really build up the layers.

After I stamped the truck, I stamped it again, but this time on Inkadinkado masking paper. Masking paper is basically sticker paper; it has a backing that you peel off. I cut out this second image of the truck to essentially create a sticker to place right on top of the truck on my project. Then, I could stamp the Forest Background right over top, and the final result would look like the truck was in front of the background - like this design was all one stamp! This masking technique can be used with almost any stamp to custom design your own scene! Now, onto the coloring!

I split up the coloring of this project over several days - working in little bits at a time. But I LOVE coloring, so I had fun doing it! I use coloring as a time to unwind and relax. My usual ritual is to put on a show (usually something on Netflix), and get lost in the colors! I once got so caught up in coloring that I realized I'd stayed up 'til 11pm (which is super late for someone who gets sleepy around 8!😋😋😋)

After I completed the coloring, I added some white dots with a white gel pen. I think they look like little tiny flowers, or fairies, or just something magical hidden in the grass. And as for the sentiment, I actually just printed it off my computer on some white card stock. I just thought it was so cute and fit this card so well that I just had to use it!

Well, I hope that my project today has inspired you to do some coloring. There are so many stamps at High Hopes Rubber Stamps to create a scene card of your own. The possibilities are probably endless! I hope you have a good weekend, and thanks for stopping by!
