Welcome to another Sketch Saturday!

Sketch Saturday Challenge #547

This week's sponsor is Scribbles Designs and they are offering a $10 gift card (for images only- no kits/paper) to the winner. To submit your entry, take a picture of your project and link to it on THIS week's Sketch Saturday blog post using the InLinkz tool at the bottom of the post.

You have until Friday January 25th at 7pm (United Kingdom time) to enter. For complete details, please read the Challenge Rules on the Sketch Saturday blog. Good luck and have fun creating!

Here is the card that I created:

I'm using the Tropical Drink image by Scribbles Designs. It inspired me to create something colorful and bright, and I thought that this shaker pocket card would be the perfect idea.

I first started by coloring the image with my Prismacolor Colored Pencils. I wanted to really create the illusion of the ice cubes floating in a fruity drink so I decided to print the image at 80% transparency - to color this image in a no-line coloring. This way it would allow me to blend the edges of the ice cubes by coloring over them.

To create the skaker pocket itself, I cut an 8.5 by 11 inch clear transparency sheet into two 5.5 inch squares. I then take my sewing machine and stitch around three sides. I purchased this sewing machine specifically to sew on my paper projects. This was the least expensive machine I could find for this purpose and it works great! I have a great appreciation for the art of sewing and hope that I can dedicate some time in the future to learning more about it.

Then comes the fun part - filling the pocket! I combined a couple sequin mixes I've had for quite some time. I have to admit that I have many things in my craft stash that may quite likely be several years old - from a time when I didn't always label things in my stash. So, unfortunately, I just don't know (and can't remember) where these particular mixes came from. I have since started labeling my items so that even if I save something for quite some time at least I'll know where it came from.

After filling, I stitched the final side and began to adorn the card as laid out in the sketch.  Add in a little baker's twine and some additional sequins and that's my completed card.  I hope you like it!
