To create the design, I used a Stampin' Up! Paper Piercing Template (now retired). This made it really easy to create the design - all I really had to do was line everything up which I did with my Tim Holtz Design ruler (one of my favorite rulers! I never thought it possible to have a favorite ruler, let alone more than one! 😋😋😋)
With a needle and foam mat underneath my card panel, I piereced holes in my paper following the design template. I decided to use a 110lb paper - I believe a thicker paper holds up a little better against the holes.
Using different colors of thread, I stitch a traditional back stitch around the hearts and a cross stitch along the top and bottom. This wasn't a very large or complicated design so it really didn't take me too long, but it does require time, and it is a little repetitive. But I'll let you in on a little quirk of mine - I sometimes really like those tasks! I like to do it while I'm unwinding at the end of the evening watching TV with my husband.
