Valentine's Day card with non-traditional colors and Monster Love from Concord and 9th

Hello! Welcome back for another quick card share! I'm calling this one a Valentine's Day card, but it is very non-traditional - which is what I love so much about it! I made this card for my lil cousins, and I think it's a cute and fun way to tell them how much I love them! I'm using the Monster Love stamp set by Concord & 9th again. Visit THIS blog post to see the card I previously made with this stamp set. I loved it so much I just had to use it again!

I think the only thing I had planned for sure about this card was that it was to be a monster loving' shaker card (LOL! 😜😜😜). Also, I had this sequin mix in my stash, and I was so inspired by the color combination; it's one I had never used before. I think it's really fun to pair new colors together that I haven't paired before.

I first started out by stamping this lil monster guy on Strathmore Bristol Smooth card stock. He is so adorable, and I'm glad the purple turned out as cute as it did - he looks so fuzzy and soft! I used my Arteza Real Brush Pens (I just can't get enough of these lately!), and I just lightly blended the marker colors toward the highlight area in the middle with my water brush.  The rest is very simple one-shade coloring - a gray tone for his hands and horns and a red one for the heart.

The background was created by first splattering some Faded Jeans Distress Oxide Ink onto a piece of Neenah Solar White card stock. In hindsight, I think I should have added more splatters, but oh well! When those dried, I die cut three hearts and a faux stitched edge into the card panel.

I popped up the card panel from the card base with a TON of foam tape that I had to strategically trim and place around the hearts so they wouldn't show through behind the acetate. I added the sequin mix then adhered the card panel over top. Next time I will double up the foam tape because the sequins are kinda smooshed right now - with another layer I think they would have had more room to shake about.

The sentiment was created with the "love you" stamp from the set. To split apart the "love" from the "you," I just inked up the stamp, and then placed a piece of tape over one of the words so that I could stamp the saying, "love, love, love you!"

The little flowers are stamps from the set as well, die cut with the coordinating die set, as was the purple monster. I think the addition of a few red flowers really tied the color into the rest of the card.

And then, that is my card! It came together pretty quickly and wasn't too complicated to put together. I had fun making it, and I can't wait to send it to my lil cousins (those lil monsters!😜😜😜)
